[MacOS Sierra] Movie playback in iTunes causes crashes/system freezes

Alright,

iTunes doesn't seem to crash my computer anymore, however the movie won't start playing, I see the controls at the bottom and the timeline at the top but the screen stays black. Within finder the small thumbnails for videos still look glitchy (like the YouTube screenshot from above).

Yep. Thats a common problem DRM protected files won't play on Ivy or newer. But you can use Shikii which will fix that problem. Link https://github.com/vit9696/Shiki/releases

and it's safe to install that kext? Sorry for being such a newbie but i'm afraid to break something. Just put it on the desktop and use KextBeast?
