I need a box for my work (Java works everywhere :headbang:
- Z68 is very small 170x170 mm (but on senior Z68 chipset);
- Z68 have 1000Mb LAN;
- And WI-FI (don't need, but good);
- 2600K have HD3000 (no need to buy discrete video);
- for now 8GB is enought for me (i will install 2x8Gb later)
- Case is small and silent (thanks to Scythe).

Install process is usual
1. Download Unibeast http://www.tonymacx86.com/C:Dq-OCPpT/UniBeast-1.1.0.zip
2. Make Own Bootable Flash Drive http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/10/unibeast-install-mac-os-x-lion-using.html
3. Botting from Prepared Boot Drive
4. Install Big Cat
5. Boot from you HDD (Use rBoot) http://www.tonymacx86.com/C:Dq-OCPpT/rBoot-1.1.0.zip
6. Add user
7. Install Chimera (Use MultiBeast Lion Edition) http://www.tonymacx86.com/C:Dq-OCPpT/MultiBeast-4.2.1.zip
8. Reboot (Boot From You HDD) (If Fail Check Step 7)
9. Copy DSDT.aml, smbios.plist and org.chameleon.Boot.plist to /Extra Directory

LAN - Realtek 8111E Lnx2Mac from MultiBeast
LAN - AR9285 Google Search ;)
Sound - ALC892 Apple HDA Rollback (from MultiBeast)

P.S.
1. Install Proccess take 1 hour on my box (long time unpacking BaseResources.pkg)
2. After copying files to /Extra, boot with GraphicsEnabler=No
3. Now We Need to Upgrade to 10.7.1 http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1437 (after 10.7.1 Update i need to boot with GraphicsEnabler=No (My HD 3000 stiil not working after update)
4. Upgrade to 10.7.2 http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1459 (Now HD 3000 drivers is work (for my box))
5. You may wish to upgrade to 10.7.3 (may not) http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1484

Good Luck!

Actually I can find it on ebay but its 170 euros(the asrock comes for 126 euros)!!
Is it fully working with good performance? I don't mind spending the extra money if intallation is easy and performance it good!

Is there anyway to get firewire on this?

Well, this board not from cheapest but i like it. Performance is great (but i think performance depends more of CPU). Firewire on this board is missing. Wake up is trouble (Board don't have Wake up from USB k/b or mouse, only ps/2).
Zotac Z68 cute board, but if need firewire better choice Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3
Reasons:

  • 1. Full size board (You may add discrete graphic in future, and Firewire controller)
    2. 4 Bank of RAM (instead 2 of Zotac)
    3. 6 SATA ports (4 sata II and 2 sata III)

P.S.
My mind Zotac not better choice for overclockers. Expensive board with only one PCIe slot and only two bank of ram. Zotac choice only if you need small box (but i think GA boards have mini ITX size, it will be cost not so ...) And main point GA is main Tonymac boards :lol:
