Mac OS X 10.6.7 Update for early 2011 MacBook Pro (Sandy Bridge)
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/03/ ... -2011.html

UPDATE:
I'd have to recommend that people NOT install the entire update- it really is hardware-specific, and breaks things like optical and USB. If you need to install anything from this package, update by installing indiv. items through Pacifist. ;)

10.7.3 Kernel & Powermgmt kext installable through Bridgehelper.

This method doesn't work for me.
Here is the system that I'm working with: viewtopic.php?f=79&t=15537

Started with 10.6.6 (with BridgeHelper installed), removed memory so I can boot with only 4GB physical without using iBoot legacy; installed the macbook pro def in multibeast, edited smbios.plist, rebooted.

The 10.6.7 update for early macbookpro tells me "this software is not supported on your system"

Any fix for the "unsupported" system error?

Just tried again, no joy :(

In system profiler, instead of Model Name "Mac Pro 3.1" now it only shows "Mac"

Here's how to do it! Fixed the blog post:

How To Use (Experimental)
1. Begin with 10.6.6
2. Install MacBook Pro System Definition from MultiBeast
3. Open Finder and Navigate to /Extra/smbios.plist
4. Open in TextEdit
5. Change MacBookPro6,1 to MacBookPro8,1
6. Save and Reboot
7. Open /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist
8. Drag SystemVersion.plist to Desktop
9. Open with TextEdit
10. Change ProductBuildVersion to 10J3210
11. Save and move back to /System/Library/CoreServices/
12. Install Mac OS X 10.6.7 Update for 2011 MacBook Pro

That seems to have fixed it. The install started - however half-way through it KPed on me. At this point, I think I've just messed around with too many variables. Off to find that retail disc...

One question, though: when you're talking about "starting with 10.6.6" what should be already installed from MultiBeast 3.3?

Much appreciated, but I still get "not supported"

Here is my /Extra/smbios.plist
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>SMfamily</key>
<string>MacBook Pro</string>
<key>SMproductname</key>
<string>MacBookPro8,1</string>
<key>SMboardproduct</key>
<string>Mac-F22589C8</string>
<key>SMserial</key>
<string>W834765J1GA</string>
<key>SMbiosversion</key>
<string>MultiBeast.tonymacx86.com</string>
</dict>
</plist>

And my /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>ProductBuildVersion</key>
<string>10J3210</string>
<key>ProductCopyright</key>
<string>1983-2011 Apple Inc.</string>
<key>ProductName</key>
<string>Mac OS X</string>
<key>ProductUserVisibleVersion</key>
<string>10.6.6</string>
<key>ProductVersion</key>
<string>10.6.6</string>
</dict>
</plist>

I rebooted, still no joy.

Tried with Gigabyte H67M-D2-B3/i5-2400 (32 multiplier)/Gigabyte Radeon 5770. When I load the macbook profile after installing 10.6.6 and easy beast then a reboot will cause it to no longer be able to boot. With -x -v I get

disk1s1 ioctl(_IOR,'d',79,4) is unsupported

and then it locks up.

-x -v cpus=1 gets me a bit further but I still get stuck on
DSMOS has arrived

any ideas?
Is there a way to load 10.6.7 WITHOUT rebooting?
