I was losing sound after sleep so I tried to reinstall the audio driver with multibeast but maybe chose the wrong one because now I have no audio and the sound icon is greyed out.

What is the correct audio driver to select in multibeast for the hd4000 (gigabyte z77 ds3h mobo)?

Also, I have a backup from time machine. Is there any way to go back to a previous situation (before I messed with the audio drivers)?

HD4000 has nothing to do with onboard audio.
Look in the manual or use search for the audio codec installed on your motherboard.

yes sorry for confusioon.
z77 ds3h
The audio codec is alc887

I've tried a few things like reinstalling the original applehda.kext (be updating the system with the sierra install files), running multibeast, opening clover configurator but the sound icon is greyed and on preferences-> sound it says no audio devices detected.
The audio should work because I'm dual booting with win10 and under Windows it works fine.

I've tried following the steps on your guides but I can't really seem to understand them (maybe because English is not my language)

everything was working fine till yesterday.
Can you please help? thank you very much

this is what I get with audio_codecdetect v2.2.command
