Ok here we go.

Installed SL with iBoot 3.0.3 (1.4Chimera) MB3.6 Added the 1.4 Bootloader. (doesn't really work yet so i boot with iBootCD.

I booted -v GE=No (otherwise system hangs while booting)
Code:
Mac-Pro:~ Anders$ ioreg | grep ATY
    | |   |     +-o ATY,ATY,RadeonFramebuffer@0  <class AtiFbStub, id 0x1000003$
    | |   |     +-o ATY,ATY,RadeonFramebuffer@1  <class AtiFbStub, id 0x1000003$
    | |   |     +-o ATY,ATY,RadeonFramebuffer@2  <class AtiFbStub, id 0x1000003$
    | |   |     +-o ATY,ATY,RadeonFramebuffer@3  <class AtiFbStub, id 0x1000003$

This must mean that my card is unsupported, right?

ASUS 6870 (in my profile) But it gets recognized like this:

ATI Radeon HD NI40:
Styrkretsmodell: ATI Radeon HD NI40

Any suggestions?

You need GraphicsEnabler=Yes. What does your system hang on ? Did you install with EasyBeast ?
I'm able to boot with framebuffer=gibba and no other flag now. I used a DSDT

I looked in to my extra/com.apple.boot.plist looking like this:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
	<key>Kernel</key>
	<string>mach_kernel</string>
	<key>Kernel Flags</key>
	<string>arch=x86_64</string>
	<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
	<string>Yes</string>
	<key>Timeout</key>
	<string>2</string>
	<key>Legacy Logo</key>
	<string>Yes</string>
	<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
	<string>Yes</string>
</dict>
</plist>
so i figured that the GE should be yes!?
Not shure though cuz my kernel seems to be booting into
Code:
  Säkert virtuellt minne:	Inte aktiverad
  64-bitars kärna och tillägg:	Nej/code]

which in english means: not activated and no

therefore I'm not shure which instructions actually gets loaded.

If I boot with no iBootCD and use the 1.4chimera that i installed the system hangs with
"NO HPETS AVAILABLE...CPU(s) configured incorrectly[/StrikeThru]

Re: Guide - New ATI Kexts from iMac 10.6.7 Update - 5XXX/6XXX

Hope this clear. Sorry for my bad English writing skill.[/quote]
ok. i ask because i intend to reflash my ati 4890 to its original bios.
my goal is to recover DP port which i've lost with all the recent updates (10.6.7 + netkas..)

what are your ati kexts versions ?
1.6...? (mine are 1.6.26)

do you use GE=yes and are you using SL 10.6.7 + netkas exotic patch ?[/quote]

I always use GE=Yes in c.a.B.p
SL 10.6.7 = 2 DVI + Dp
SL 10.6.7 + ATI driver 1.6.34.13 = 2 DVI and no Dp
Lion = 2 DVI and no Dp

Regards

Re: Guide - New ATI Kexts from iMac 10.6.7 Update - 5XXX/6XXX

What exactly am I looking for... Comparing to the first post: My list look somewhere in between the working one and the not working one? :)
Can anyone tell me if my graphics are working with QE/CI and everything else that should work? Yeees I know, laugh at my noobish question I know this post sound wierd. ;)

Re: Guide - New ATI Kexts from iMac 10.6.7 Update - 5XXX/6XXX

Anyone got the MSI 6850 Cyclone to work perfectly? Im looking at getting this one as its really quiet at idle and load from reviews.. or an ASUS 6850 DirectCU if i cant.

I currently have a Sapphire 4870 and works perfectly with only GE=Yes so im looking for that kind of ease after the iMac 10.6.7 graphics drivers are installed :D

Perhaps you take the MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II it´s the quietest 6870-Card on the market and running good for me with the new version of chameleon + 64bit GE=Yes + a non edited DSDT from the database. The price is really fair and there are several user here with this card, with more advanced x86-knowledge than me, so imho it will a good buy ;)

My only Problem: Since i change my card from 8800gt to the new Ati R6870 my hackintosh didn't come out of sleep-modus?! Anyone else have this (little) issue?

Re: Guide - New ATI Kexts from iMac 10.6.7 Update - 5XXX/6XXX

Oh thanks for the info! I will consider it as its only about $20 more here, but it has 2 fans? would it be noisier than the 6850 that has just has one fan? maybe they spin slower. i guess you know with "silence" in your username :) im really looking for a quiet card as i replaced my vacuum cleaner Sapphire 4870 cooler with an Akasa Vortexx Neo.

I found the MSI 6850 device-id somewhere and its the same one that the 10.6.7 drivers support (0x6739) so it should work.

Re: Guide - New ATI Kexts from iMac 10.6.7 Update - 5XXX/6XXX

I've have a Saphire 6870 card and im running default kest+chimera+Graph=Yes. My card is recognized but when i run the command i dont see any framebuffer, looks like they died.

bash-3.2# ioreg | grep -i ATY
| | | +-o ATY,Duckweed@0 <class AtiFbStub, id 0x100000392, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (383 ms), retain 7>
| | | +-o ATY,Duckweed@1 <class AtiFbStub, id 0x100000393, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (9 ms), retain 7>
| | | +-o ATY,Duckweed@2 <class AtiFbStub, id 0x100000394, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (9 ms), retain 7>
| | | +-o ATY,Duckweed@3 <class AtiFbStub, id 0x100000395, registered, matched, active, busy 0 (119 ms), retain 7>
bash-3.2#

BTW, ive tried the PCIRootUID=1 and it falls back to the default framebuffer, with PCIRootUID=0 it stay the same. And bellow is the bdmesg output:

Using PCI-Root-UID value: 0
Framebuffer @0xE0000000 MMIO @0xF7AC0000 I/O Port @0x0000A000 ROM Addr @0xF7AA0000

LAN Controller [10ec:8168] :: PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1c,0x7)/Pci(0x0,0x0)

From windows i got the folowing info:

PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6738&SUBSYS_00D01002&REV_00
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6738&SUBSYS_00D01002

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6738&SUBSYS_00D01002&REV_00\4&113C73B2&0&0018

Thanks

Re: Guide - New ATI Kexts from iMac 10.6.7 Update - 5XXX/6XXX

I'm kinda confused. Can I enable audio through HDMI with Graphicsenabler=yes. I was under the impression that in order for me to get it working, the graphics card would have to work without it set to yes. Am I off, or does Chimera somehow not interfere? Because from what I can see, there's no reason to edit DSDT's to get HD 5xxx's working anymore.

Re: Guide - New ATI Kexts from iMac 10.6.7 Update - 5XXX/6XXX

Anyone else have the problem with wake up from sleep and a R6870? :?

The loudest component in my Hackintosh are my sata-HD´s, perhaps the cyclone is a little bit quiter, but in 2D/Desktop Mode you can´t hear the R6870 Twin Frozr II and you got more graphic power ;) Buy it on Amazon and test it, you can send it back 30 days without a cause (get the link of tony to support the community).

Re: Guide - New ATI Kexts from iMac 10.6.7 Update - 5XXX/6XXX

maybe this will help someone, as I was struggling with this for about an hour last night:

I had 4850 and upgrdaded to 6870. deleted all the ATI kexts, and installed the new 10.6.7 ATI kexts. i set graphicsenabler=no. deleted any injector files in /E/E. my card simply did not work.

after trying this multiple times, i remembered that to get my 4850 to work i had to use EVOenabler.kext in /S/L/E. right after i deleted that kext and rebooted, my 6870 started working perfectly.

DELETE EVOenabler.kext !!!!!
