Lion vs Mountain Lion Performance HP4530s

I have successfully installed both Lion and ML but am seeing significant differences uisng Mainstage 2.2.1.
In fact, it is totally unusable on ML.
CPU meter goes thru the roof and sound breakes up even with highest latency settings in Mainstage.
I use it with a Focusrite Saffire firewire soundcard on an expresscard firewire adaptor.

Mainstage works perfectly well with the same setup on Lion.

Would I need to do something different to my install for ML, I used the ProBook installer 5.1b1 for both OS.

I have now found that the settings that i used on HP installer were incorrect and the problem has been resolved.

Not on the HP but on my desktop system I run Snow Leopard and Lion. They run on physically different HDDs but they are the same brand size series etc.
Geekbench 32 comes in both cases to a score that is almost identical, (SL 10.6.8 and Lion 10.7.3).
Lion boots quicker though.
On these machines you shouldn't worry too much about boot time though, then you should have bought an instant on device like a tablet or something like it.

So, for me, there is little advantage between the two OSs, except I like Lion better as it looks more like ML but for the rest? For what I use them for, they're all fine.
