I'm sure a lot of people will be interested in having Lion on this laptop, since it offers great value for money spent. The specs are:
For those interested, below is the installation method I used. It's probably not the best way but worked for me. You'll need a 8gb or more flash disk, working 10.6.8 and retail osx lion image. USB mouse and keyboard are needed for installation.
I made a bootable USB stick following this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E68QVFq4-c and ran multibeast on the installation drive to have system definition macbook pro 8,1. The installation would not work without the 8,1 definition.
After installation I ran Multibeast with Easybeast, system definition macbook pro 8,1, 32bit boot and GraphicsEnabler yes and PS2 kexts to enable trackpad and keyboard. However, Chimera would not install correctly resulting in boot0 error and Lion was only bootable with install drive. I found out that the problem lies probably in the harddrive and installing chimera manually onto an unmounted partition worked like a charm. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=31085&start=10
What's working and kexts used:
In summary, I have a (mostly) working dual boot with Win 7 and Lion. I tried to look at the DSDT to enable sleep, since that and Bluetooth are the only things I would really like to have working. I had no success in the edits and it's actually way too advanced for me. I attached the kexts I used and my unmodified DSDT in hope that they benefit someone else and/or someone with DSDT editing skills would have a look at the DSDT.
