Hi,

I have been running my X61 on El Capitan for a while (using the 64-bit beta kext drivers that appeared on 10.6.2). It has been working quite fine. I ran Mavericks on it before this.

Thinking about going up a notch, i prepared a stick with Unibeast for Sierra. When i startup the machine, it comes to a row of "plusses" (++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++) and just hangs there. I have tried to replace the AptioFix (with v2 and vice versa) but the problem remains.

Is it even possible to install Sierra on this machine? (i would hope that it is since El Capitan works on it - perhaps wishful thinking :))

Boot verbose, show photo. Attach EFI/Clover folder as ZIP (omit 'themes' folder).

Your profile/signature does not provide enough details.
Are you booting legacy or UEFI?
No experience though with hardware as old as the stuff in your X61... (that is some seriously ancient hardware...)

Sorry about that. Signature update now. Its legacy 100% (tried to make the stick UEFI but it wouldn't boot using that at all).

Yes, i know it is not the freshest of hardware out there, but i have seen other C2D implementations running Sierra so that made me curious :) I understand that they are tightened the requirements for Sierra (in comparison with El Capitan) but i still hope that it possible to at least install it (even without acc. graphics, etc). I'll keep my thumbs crossed :)

What is the output of 'lspci -nn' in Linux Terminal?

8086:2a02 is GMA X3100. It is supported in 32-bit Snow Leopard, and maybe 32-bit Lion. But not past that.

It might not be supported, but i have been running Mavericks and El Capitan (64-bit both) on it using the drivers referenced here:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/intel-gma-x3100-with-qe-ci-on-ml.77450/

Beta drivers not recommended. Good luck with that...

without more severe issues actually. But despite this, wouldn't it even be possible to reach the installer gui in vesa-only mode (as previous osx versions)?

If you get the correct Clover setup, yes, probably...
No experience with ancient hardware here though....
