setting up a Hackintosh with Yosemite and e540, wasn't that easy, because for Haswell mobile Units a kernel patch was often necessary. Also the Chimera based Unibeast for Yosemite Installation won't worked. So with El Capitan it is much more easy to go. At this point i have to say that this is my first mackintosh guide, i am not a professional guy who is doing this since years, but if someone out there wants to hack his E540, i want to share the way i done it with him/her. In addition my english isn't that good, i am from germany that's why, so i am also sorry for that. If you have questions you can write a PN.
I'll hope you enjoy.

So these days i reinstalled my Windows and Mac OSX.
Chimera isn't supporting El Capitan, so the actual Unibeast Tool is using Clover.
That is the reason why you can use the unibeast now, for hacking your thinkpad e540.
you have to know what's in your notebook, so if you don't know check your hardware configuration.
also it's recommendable to read rehabmans Faq for installing OS X on a notebook.

1. Download the latest version of OSX El Capitan with a Mac or a Mackintosh
2. Creating an Installer stick with Unibeast. (Follow the Tonymacx Guide for El Capitan Installation)
Use Uefi Boot Mode and Standard Graphics Configuration
3. Before boot go to the BIOS and set Boot Mode to 'Diagnostics'
4. For Post-Installation i didn't used Multibeast. I used normal Clover.
You also have to use a special config.plist with Rehabmans Intel HD fix
and you have to use a DSDT and SSDT to fix Battery etc. (i will post them with a link down below)
5. After you have to install some kexts ( i used kext wizard to install)
6. Don't forget to Repair Permissions and Rebuild the cache

NOTE: The DSDT and SSDT AREN'T my work, it's by turkawa, special thanks to him and also to rehabman for supporting me and doing this incredible things. Without them my project won't that good. THANKS!

In the end:
Wifi: Won't work , because it's Intel Hardware. And no you can't replace it with a working half-mini pci-e card, because lenovo is using a BIOS white list. And only Intel Wifi Adapters are listed. So the BIOS won't let you boot if you are installed 'unsupported' Hardware. Lenovo and other Vendors using these White lists because of Warranty reasons. Alternative: Wifi USB stick which supports Mac OSX, such Asus AC 51 oder AC 56
UPDATE: For those who are thinking, just Mod the Bios by using Phoenix Editor Pro and replace just the Device ID und Subsystem. Won't work that easy, the newer Thinkpads have three special secured Eeeprom chips. Yo can't edit, you have to overwrite. If you overwrite a modded BIOS with a mistake in the code, you can move your motherboard into trash. in Addition its a lot of hours work.

Bluetooth: Works, but sometimes it won't after sleep
Touchpad & Keyboard : works fine after installing Rehabmans VodooPS2controller kext
Audio: After Installing AppleHDA.kext and DSDT fix
USB: Installing Rehabmans USBGeneric kext
Hotkeys: Working fine
Ethernet: Works with Realtek8111.kext
Battery: works with Rehabsmans Acpibattery kext
UPDATE:
Backlight Control: Works after DSDT edits and installing IntelBacklight.kext
Backlight keys: works after DSDT edits
Boot Screen Garble: Removed by enabling Rehabmans config Patch and updating for 10.11

Intel WiFi is not supported. The github project you found is an incomplete WIP... http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/intel-wifi-driver-effort.186344/

See FAQ for supported WiFi:

Follow the Clover guide linked from the FAQ.

Does HFSPlus.efi exist in EFI/Clover/drivers64UEFI?
