Laptop Motherboards, How do we Identify??

I dont know if this has been covered or if laptop motherboards even qualify for things like custom multibeast etc? but if they do, I do we identify the model?

Next year Im going to move on to a custom built workstation. My last 3 laptops were converted to dual booting laptops with windows 7 and OSX. The latest one is working but the video card is not quite there yet.

I use to use SIW (system information for windows). There is a free version that works just fine.
