Kernel panic if speakers powered off!

Exactly as the title, I have Mountain Lion running perfectly except that when I boot my PC, OSX 10.8 will not boot and produces a panic screen. Strangely if my speakers are powered on it works perfectly. Anyone heard of this before?

Your hardware spec in your sig might help get some responses as without that info we have no clue.

do you have a front audio wiring block attached to your motherboard? If so are you using it instead of the speaker jack on the back of your system?

Lastly if the answer to the wiring block is yes, have you tried disconnecting it and then seeing if the system will boot properly if your speakers are turned off while they are connected to the back audio jack on the motherboard?
