I downloaded iBoot 2.6.3 and burned it to a DVD+RW and I have a home-madecopy(which is not illegal in the Netherlands) of an orginal Mac OS X retail DVD burned on a DVD+RW DL.

While trying to start the installation of OS X I got an error telling me to restart my computer. Does anyone know what I have to do now? I am totally new to this so please don't blame me for not using correct terms or anything. I am willing to learn :)

Pictures are added as attachment.

I also tried these with no effect:
-x, -v, -x -v, DSDT=/dev/null.

Re: OS X setup won't load

are you pressing F5 after you put in the OSX install cd? a lot of people forget to do this. also, instead of booting with -x or -v, try instead DSDT=/dev/null.

if that doesn't work try either iboot GE, or Legacy Empire EFI. iboot has never worked on my rig, but empire works fine. hope this helps

I tried -x, -v, -x -v and DSDT=/dev/null, but still no result. I am uploading video's to YouTube at the moment and I will try Legacy Empire EFI after that's done. Is it possible that a hardware part is causing the kernel panic? I have a HP G62-149WM. Specs here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docu ... ct=4164688

Your graphic card isnt supported. You need to get another card but that isnt to think about with a laptop.

it is possible that you have a bad RAM module, but i have a feeling that your problem is with iboot.

try empire efi first, and if that doesn't work you should try running memtest86 or memscope. it may take up to 8 hours of testing to catch some problems  , and even longer if you have a lot of RAM modules installed. try only testing one stick of RAM at a time for the best results....but hopefully you wont have to go this far

It is integrated in the cpu so that won't be the problem as the cpu is supported.

I have 4GB of RAM, but it is a new laptop and I never had any problems installing anything before, so I will just try Empire EFI first as you advice me to.

Does Empire EFI work with the retail DVD? The website says it works with 10.6.3, but I don't know what version the retail DVD is. I think it is just 10.6.

Again...

The graphic card integrated in core i3 500 series and core i5 600 series for desktop isnt supported. They need a extra card to get a working display.

Well, it is not working indeed. Think I am going to get rid of this notebook and buy one which is supported :)
