I just have a few questions so I'll make it short. What does the fakesmc.kext actually do? What does OpenHaltRestart.kext do? I'm reading in places that these are essential but I would like to know why. I'm also having problems with my computer going to sleep. How does deleting the NullCPUPowerManagement.kext help that, or will it even?

Run the Kext Utility in Applications after deleting NullCPUPowerManagement.kext then reboot.It's safe to make a clone copy to a usb disk that is bootable.

It'll 'fake' a real SMC which our hacks don't have.

It could help to make you PC proper shutdown/restart. A well edited DSDT will help more than such kexts, e.g USB as internal than expansion slot makes sleep a lot easier
