Few months ago i started planning to buy new computer. I was really comparing Mac & PC. Meanwhile i were finding most best solution for me i was finding all the good solutions from both, So I started to think to get both but while i were searching i find out that I can build a Hackintosh where is both operating systems. I didnt have any experience from building computer before so i started from nothing.

When i got all the components to my project I started to build up.

Parts were really easy to put in the place (Help from youtube). All the necessary information to buildup and installing found from youtube.


When i got system running and to setup to bios

Everything looked good, until I opened system health. CPU temperature were above 80 all the time and there were nothing loading the CPU. I started to think that Cooler does not work like it should be.

When i found out that they leave a small amount of air to let water expand inside sealed system I wondered would this air be inside the pump. I laid the case by it side and heard when all the air were started to go inside radiator (Where it should be). CPU temperature lowered from 84 -> 35-40 cel.


After getting coolant working correctly started to operate with bios. I find many different modes for Bios settings, but none of those were not working for OSX.

So here starts the problem.

I installed OS X 20 times and non of those were not working. So here starts point where i need a help.

Every time I got installed OS X it looked like following video.

Also OS X Mavericks is showing me wrong CPU? All the rest of the components is correct but CPU is marked as 4.3Ghz 6-core Intel Xeon, and it should be Intel I7-4930K LGA 2011.

I also run Geekbench with that OSX but good points, but slow screen stilla appears.

So if there is anyone who can help me please lets make this project to work.


I am planning to make osx + win 8.1 so dual boot is neccessery.


So here is few questions.

1. Does anyone have a similar problem?

2. What is the correct Bios Setup For GA-X79-UP4

3. Which boot flags i need to use? Have tried so many of those and non did not work.

4. How to get off this slow screen?

If some one have step by step guide to make this work please share it with me so i can make this topic correct and working.

I had similar problems. About This Mac reads the wrong CPU and Lagginess. To get rid of your lagginess, you need to install Chameleon 2.2 svn r2377. I don't know how to fix Wrong CPU info at the moment. Please message me when you figure it out XD

Default worked for me.

-v =0x2000 worked for me

I believe you also need VoodooTSCSync for your 6-core cpu to have all 6-core running.

- I forgot to write "npci" in my boot flags, so the correct one for me was "-v npci=0x2000"

Step by step instruction:
1. Use your slow hackintosh to open above link and download Chameleon. (i remember although my hackintoh was very choppy and laggy, my wifi was working.)
2. Open Chameleon and follow its instruction to install it on your computer.
3. Restart, and it should fix the lagginiess

I also had similar issues with my 4930k build, at least the slowness/lag issues (never got as far as to check what CPU was reported). They all went away when I prepared my USB stick using Clover as described in http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...-how-install-os-x-mavericks-using-clover.html.

Just got my 4930k up and running with Asus Rampage iv gene board and I'm having the EXACT problems with the slow legginess. Will try Chameleon and get back to you asap. This is driving me nuts!

@all if the installation of Chameleon doesn't work for you, you should try to rollback AppleAHCI and IOPCIFamily - because you're Problem is more related to the gpu rather than to the cpu (Also check with GraphicsEnabler=No)

@JohnDoe you can accomplish accessing the graphicsEnabler flag in Multibeast by going to Customization > Boot Options and unchecking "GraphicsEnabler=Yes." It can also be entered as a flag from the Chimera boot screen by typing "-v GraphicEnabler=no" before you hit "enter."

I am building a nearly identical system myself (same board, processor, and GPU) and have been able to get the processor working correctly by using the steps described in this thread-- this forum is AWESOME, btw! I'm still wrestling with the audio (the system sees no audio devices) and the video playback, but everything else is working flawlessly. I will report back if I solve these problems.
