anyone have an idea if its possible to fix the cpu recognition with my Core i7-3770K on Snow Leopard System?

my cpu is recognized as a 3.5 GHz unknown and I need to get it working in order to download Mountain Lion

It appears that you may have selected the wrong system parameter to ID you system this is done in Multibeast - but if you used a DSDT file then it would have been ID'd by the DSDT file

DId you download a dsdt file to match the bios version of that motherboard.
If so you need to rename the download file to just the name dsdt.aml

I have some links below that were very helpful to me for a simlar build.

also see this link for a build like yours he has a good description based upon the same board.

these are the links I spoke about.

If you are unfamiliar w the internal workings of the Mackintosh world, I found the following websites and videos very be helpful.

But before you do this please look for some YOUtube vids under the name deanwrayUK

yes, I've installed the multibest with the dsdt file for my mobo

Anoil1349

Did you rename the dsdt file to just dsdt.aml!

Did you do the google search on the multibeast as mentioned in my first post -

Have you searched the old site know a legacy.tonymacx86.com

Also within in Multibeast you have the option of selecting the value that you are not seeing -
See if you can set the ID to MacPro5,1 or MacPr03,1 in multibeast
Run the Multibeast System Utilities all options after you do that !
reBoot and report!

See this link for Geekbench valures w that CPU

yes, I did rename it

tomorrow I will try to choose the ID in the multibeast..

thanks for the links!

I will report tomorrow

I've installed the ID and nothing. also I have installed the dsdt once again and nothing again..
I was trying with -f and then I was getting kernel panic message

Just what to go over the step on should do if you have a sandy brigde cpu and mb

jester969 has a posted this in our forums and I have coppied it here

See if this was how you did your build
- of course we have to confirm that ahci hpet and s3 are correct in your bios.

And that you have a dsdt file - if not then you will need to know what hardware is on your mother board for network and sound. Suggest manufacture site

-------------------------------------------------------------------
How to due a sandybridge cpu w compatable hardware OSX hack 10.6.8 build. jester969

Typical installation steps are:
1) iBoot + Disk Utility + install Snow Leopard DVD (perform install via DVD) reboot
2) iBoot + Installed OSX HDD (boot with iBoot and loading OS via newly installed HDD) - get welcome screen
3) Run Update Helper and Reboot?
4) iBoot + Installed OSX HDD, run combo update 10.6.8 , DO NOT reboot
5) Run Multibeast and select option which are required to your board.
6) Reboot w/out iBoot

Audio/Ethernet/DSDT

DSDT and BIOS firmware must match to the corresponding number.

Now as you stated you have an IVY Bridge cpu - Apple has note updated any of the OSX update packages for IVY Bridge processors - this could be you reason it cant be found. But if you want to try again use the above short form w the Tonymacx86 long form for iBoot and Multibeast (kind like doing tax's)

And report back

after installing the 6.8 update with the updatehelper the system hangs on the white screen with apple logo..

Well, SL does not work with Ivy chips. I have seen some on here claiming to have installed SL on Ivy chips using an already made 10.6.8 disk but still have not seen the user build of success.

Interesting....how did you install SL 10.6.8. to be able to access the App Store?

Interesting....how did you install SL 10.6.8. to be able to access the App Store?

app store is available from 10.6.6

SL is working "partly" on till 6.7 on my ivy bridge setup, after updating to 6.8 I can't boot, it freezes on the white screen with the logo..

the problem is that I can't download the damn ML from app store because my mac doesn't recognize the CPU and when I want to buy ML it tells me I need Core I cpu..

so now Im stack until I find someone with a mac..
