Hello all,

I'm almost done building my new rig (µatx, i7, 16GB ram). I only need to buy now my graphic card.

I'm considering buying a GTX 980 but I'd like to know before if any brand will be ok out of the box (or almost).

I was thinking of buying the MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127834)

Any suggestion about this card?

I am using this one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487079&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=4902415&SID=

works great with the nVidia web drivers.
Don't know about the MSI one - have you compared the specs to the ones in the Buyer's Guide? How close is the MSI card to nVidia reference design?

Thanks for your answer dude!

Actually I was thinking of the MSI especially about its design as I'll have a windowed case ;-)

But I think that any 980 will be ok? I like the one you're mentionning but is EVGA a trustful brand?

Thanks for the answer as well. I was curious about this too. :)

I've got an MSI 970. No issues with the web drivers. I'd say an MSI 980 is also a safe bet.

Thank you bedoig but I'd like to be sure first before spending 500 bucks into a GPU ;-)

The problem is I cannot find golden builds or user builds with gtx980 cards being successfull...

Any clue?

Going Bald mentioned he's using an EVGA 980. I know I've seen other people who are also using 980's. I don't have links offhand, but there are a number of threads discussing the 970's / 980's. I've never seen a mention of one that didn't work. EVGA, Gigabyte, Asus, and MSI are all very close to reference cards and don't have any issues. The only thing you may want to research further is if you have very specific display port (not displayport) requirements. Ie, you must have HDMI 2.0, 4 monitors from a single card, etc.

I got a Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980 in my machine this week. No problems once the web drivers were installed.

I'm very interested in the ASUS as well and I'l love to know if the GTX 980 Strix directCU II is compatible :?:
