Quick question for the 4530s, is it Sata 2 or 3 with HDDs?
In one of the latest BIOS updates (I don't remember which one) was introduced SATA 3 support, so both should work well.
Edit: the version is F.29
Actually, it has always been SATA3 (6 Gbit/s). It is more of a Intel 6-series chipset feature (see: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/chipsets/value-chipsets/mobile-chipset-hm65.html). There was an option added in the BIOS in F.29 so you could limit the max speed to 3 Gbit/s. I've not tried this to see if it affects OS X (speeds reported or achieved). But SATA3 support has been there since I originally got my 4530s as I've been using it with a SATA3 SSD since that time (my laptop started with BIOS F.20).
Ok so I don't want to mess with my bios, Im on F20 and you're saying it is SATA 3?
This is good to know. I almost purchased a sata II ssd.
Yes.
