Your issue may be something else then. possibly just the new boards need a few more bios updates to fix stability. it took months for z87 to really get stable in some configurations.

you are disabling IGP right? while you can dsdt the crash away on z97, if you have a real gpu probably better to just turn it off anyways
 
Yeah I think this must be something else.

I'm using onboard graphics - won't bother with a graphics card since I'm not a gamer.
 
one last thing i would try. set base frequency fro 100mhz to 99.87 (CPU BCLK). this is actually what the latest beta firmware did (on it's own) that fixed issues for me.
 
yeah I'm pretty sure gigabyte fixed this in their BIOS, but the work around for it prior was to change BLK or memory speed or memory timings. It all tied in with other issues I observed with USB, skipping audio and even video card channel timeouts. All of it went away in most recent gigabyte firmware revisions.
