Is anyone else HAVING to boot in Verbose mode to get Audio to work?

I've consistently seen that my audio will only load up and work if I use the -v boot flag.

Any idea why that would be?

IOREG attached.

IT WORKS. I found a turnaround.
It is a problem with the cache. If cache is active at boot, it does not work.
It is why it is not working after a second reboot.
When you reinstall you flush the cache and it works again.
If you add:
<key>UseKernelCache</key>
<string>No</string>
in boot file configuration is becoming stable.
Why it is not working from cache, I dont know.
Output orange/black in the back working, front not working
Thanks for the info. Did you use MultiBeast?
I used DSDT + AppleHDA from the site; Multibeast 4.4, 4.4.1 and then 4.5 or the same kexts installed manually. Always the same result: working after one reboot and not working after the second. This time, I used Multibeast 4.5.
I use the black jack (redefined in windows7 to have both working). Front is working in windows7 not with Osx.
Not perfect but ok for main purposes. Many thanks.
No longer working today !!!!
I tried to boot with -v (TurbineSeaplane's remark). It is working...
Very strange.

I'm almost relieved that I'm not alone!

Now if we could just figure out why Verbose boot is required...
Odd.

In the mean time I added that to my Boot.plist so I don't have to do it each time (since I prefer to use a wireless keyboard)

Fails also after few reboots...
When it fails you get "Sound Assertion 0!= SetupHostInterrupt() fails in...."

Seems to work after more than 10 reboots. With Kernel cache on and verbose mode. I added that in my boot.plist

Yeah.
It's "getting worse" for me now.

Often times I have to reboot 2 times to get the audio to "come back".

I sure wish I knew what was going on here.

Requiring the Verbose mode must tell us something, right?

Works with kernel cache and verbose mode

I now have the best combo yet.

I use no reference to Kernel Cache in the Boot.plist at all, no C States, No P states, NO verbose boot and boom.

Everything is working wonderfully.

partly Succes!!! (meaning I'm not in silent mode anymore)

Here is my 5 cents to the thread

Gigabyte Z77X_UD5 with firmware 7 (yes the one in the DSDT database is for 5 but it didn't make a difference for me if it was loaded or not, guess IVY is not supported yet)

Intel i7 3770 @ 3.4 Ghz (yes that is Ivy)

OS 10.7.4

first I could make the thing load using the patched HDA and some DSDT tweaking. The speaker showed up as working (black in the top right corner of the screen) I could configure it in systemconfiguration-> sound. but No sound was ever heard from any of the jacks.

So I started to create a DSDT from scratch using

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=58047

After following the guide again black speaker in upper right corner, configurable with preferences but no sound from the expected jacks.

...However

I had now the 2 line outputs available that we're physically the black and orange rear jacks
the black one in particular sounds ok (not much checking done yet however)
NO headphone (front) jack tho even if it's selectable in the systemconfiguration->sound

it must be a pin configuration thing and maybe I'll look in it later but I would gladly leave that to the experts.

It survived about 10 reboots so I guess it must be stable

included is my dsdt for everyone to try. Please notice that this "fix" uses the Interim_898_Lion_AppleHDA from the begin of this thread AND NOTHING ELSE (no patched hda, no alc stuff nada!)

Other stats

16Gb Ram, NVidia GT 430

No sleep and strange readings from hardware monitor (see attachments)
but all seems to be as fine as can expected from a non-natively supported CPU it is perfectly workable.

cheers! G
