I am planning on making a hackintosh, but I am in the UK and motherboard choice is awkward as Gigabyte aren't as common.. (No one I know has one)

So there is this Intel Motherboard [DP67BG Extreme Series - Desktop]
(http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Desktop-Board-DP67BG-Extreme/dp/B004PQBT8C/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I12Q28M3ZQMA8V&colid=YEWHWBUUZBYX) and I was wondering if anyone has an idea if it works?

Basically, will it work?

I am assured it will work with the Intel i5 (if not there's something wrong), but this has onboard wifi and bluetooth, of which I need. I have not found a Gigabyte motherboard with these..

I appreciate any comments :) really want to know before I fork out so much money..

And I did search everywhere prior to this.

I think I would go to the DSDT section of this forum and pick a motherboard listed there. You start with one strike against you with an odd motherboard, then there's the onboard wifi and bluetooth which are going to be difficult to get to work in OSX, if at all. It seems like the onboard stuff would save time, but it won't.

Building a Hack and getting everything working is hard enough. I built a Tony Mac recommended build and still spent many hours getting everything working. I think what you propose to do is more trouble than its worth. Just my 2 cents... ;)

Yeah I had a little thought about that last night.. Would probably be easier to separate things and get one thing working at a time I guess.. Fair enough I guess, and thanks OldFred :) will probably go with a gigabyte that is in the dsdt section :)

samisnake, the link does not work, but I can see what you're getting at.. As you can tell I am completely new to this field.. Thanks (both of you), I will shop around :)

Edit: Pretty much going for CustoMac number 3, as I just found out I can get most of the parts easily from Amazon UK.

have you tried amazon? gigabyte is all over amazon.co.uk.

you can get the z68 boards that everyone is using, basically.

onboard bluetooth may work, but OS X lion and snow leopard are really hard to make work with wifi. Basically, it only supports looking for an airport hardware config. You can build a rig that works flawlessly http://x86wifi.blogspot.com/2010/04/how ... -card.html. I doubt that the onboard wifi would work well without a fight.

If i had to weigh buying a gigabyte board that I had to put on adapters for wifi and bluetooth versus a board that more people know about and has features that no one on the forums really knows about, I would do the former. Wifi and bluetooth are easy to work around. Getting other boards to boot correctly and recognize everything seems a more challenging assignment.

just order one from amazon and suffer the stigma of being different from your friends. :)

Several of us mods have the Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H ATX mobo. I'm running my with HD 3000 graphics w/o problems (see my signature block for build description).

Unless you're going to get a small SSD to plug into the mobo, don't get the Z68XP mobos as you'll pay more for it vs the Z68MX or Z68X mobos.

Z68xp boards are usually cheaper than the non p models, at least on scan.co.uk
