The rumours about Intel’s SSD price drop have proven to be true – albeit a bit earlier than expected – as today the company announced that it is lowering the suggested reseller pricing on its SSD 320, 330 and 520-series of SSDs.

In addition to that, the company has added a 240GB SKU to its SSD 330-series, although no pricing or specifics to the 240GB model were announced, but we’d estimate that it’ll end up around the $200 mark, considering that the 180GB SKU is $50 more than the 120GB with the new pricing in place, so another $50 on top of that should most likely get us close to the 240GB pricing.

so these prices take effect today? or in a few days?

whats the different between the 330 series and other ssds from other companys?
speed? i'm going to be getting a SSD for my upcoming hackintosh build and would like to know.

thanks

It looks as though the write speeds on the Intel SSDs are much lower than cheaper drives, many of which boast near-equal read/write speeds.

Is this just a case of Intel being more honest with the numbers than other vendors, or do their drives simply suffer unequal performance?
