I currently have a Dual boot setup with OSX 10.8.2 and Vista.
I am going to upgrade to Win8 instead of vista.

What are the routes to take? It is very important I dont screw up my OSX side.

I have vista on its own HDD.

Disconnect all drives other than Vista. Update Vista to Win8. Reconnect all drives, make OS X drive first in HDD boot order in BIOS.

Hate to be a pain but could you aloborate a little?

- So disconnect all other drives.
- Insert disk into drive and boot up.
- Install windows 8 over vista.
- Shutdown.
- Re hook up hard drives.
- Boot to BIOS and set MACOSX as primary drive.
- That should be it?

Anything I need to do about UEFI? What ABout Chimera? Will it just show the updated drive?

Thanks for your help!

Do you plan to update Vista or do a clean install, reformatting the HDD? If updating Vista, then you need only run the update and reconnect the other drives, then set the OS X drive back to first in HDD boot order.

If you plan to wipe the Vista drive and clean install Win8, then use the F hotkey to select a boot device and make sure you select the DVD with the port number (P0, P1, P2, etc.) and not the EFI one.

I wasn't able to just upgrade. It said you cant upgrade direct to 8.1 so I had to do a full fresh install.

Everything went great! No issues at all, Phew!! Thank goodness!
