Hey Guys,

Looking for some ideas. I am installing High Sierra using UniBeast but it hangs up a few moments after the Apple Logo pops up and progress bar gets just beyond 1/2 way. I fear I am in way over my head. 1st timer here...

Gigabyte B360N WIFI
Intel i5-8400 LGA1151
Ballistix Sport RAM 2x8GB DDR4-2400
Samsung 860 EVO SATA 500GB SSD

Any help would be appreciated... ;-)

You should read and comply with the rules, in particular the one regarding profiles.

"Still waiting for root device".
When booting from USB means that there is a problem finding a valid System folder to start up from on your USB flash drive.
This is usually because the flash drive is in a USB3 port.
If this is the case move it to a USB2 port, if it is already in a USB2 port move it to another and try again.
Repeat until you have tried all USB ports.
Use a USB2 flash drive.
If it still doesn't work you could try another flash drive.
You might also try enabling Legacy on your USB3 ports in your BIOS settings.
Try connecting your USB flash drive using a USB2 hub.
Ensure that Fast Boot is not enabled in your BIOS settings.
May require USBInjectAll.kext in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/.
May require XHCI-300-series-injector.kext or XHCI-200-series-injector.kext in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/.
May need PMHeart’s patch to remove XHCI USB Port Limit to /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/config.plist.

The problem may also occur when your USB controllers are unsupported, if this is the case you should add the appropriate kext to /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/ or try GenericUSBXHCI.kext.

Really appreciate the feedback @P1LGRIM. I have tried just about all the USBs but will continue. After 6 hours of BIOS settings and reloading the thumb drive, I’m stumped. Honestly, I’m not 100% convinced I have the thumb drive loaded correctly.

UPDATE: After trying different flash drives and reinstalls on the FDs plus moving to different USB drives, it finally moved all the way to the Installer Language screen. Thanks for your input, @P1LGRIM.

My excitement was short lived, however... It is stuck at the Language screen. Neither my keyboard nor mouse operate. I could be wrong but I believe it has frozen because of the gray translucent bar that's visible on the side of the language box. See attached picture.

Anyone have an idea on what is causing this hang-up?

Thanks again!

Ok. I’ll try whatever I didn’t do yet that was mentioned in post #2. Most of this is a different language to me but I’m crossing my fingers.

When adding the kexts, can I add them all at the same time or try each on then delete if wasn't successful and load the next one? Thx!

Used hub after kexts didn't seem to help. After installation reboots, it doesn't give an option to boot from High Sierra. It seems to want to go through the entire installation again. There is the HFS drive now though. I wonder if I should try that instead.

It worked and I completed the install. Now the bad news: Black screen when it boots from the High Sierra drive. SMH... I can't win! I must have chosen something wrong in MultiBeast. Geez...

Boot your system in Verbose Mode and post a picture of your screen when it freezes/hangs.
At Clover Boot Screen press space bar and select Verbose (-v)
