Looks like a USB problem... eventually, you probably get garbled screen with "Still waiting for root device".
Make sure you use a USB2 stick (most likely USB3 ports are not working until you fix them).

Did you try with USBInjectAll.kext?

Are you sure Pascal-powered laptop use Optimus? its so sad my laptop not support Optimus. I have working GTX 1070 use Nvidia Web Driver.

your last problem are same with me when i trying to install it on my laptop, it has 3 usb 3.0 ports. Just use USBInjectAll.kext (install on Clover kexts folder, for links see @RehabMan post) then it works!
