Here are my computer specs:

Dell XPS 435T/9000
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7
Graphics: ATI Radeon™ HD4870 1GB graphics card

I thought that the Snow Leopard that I have would work but evidently it might now because it was made for my MacBook Pro.

If I were to buy the update CD, which one should I get, Snow Leopard or Lion?

In YOUR OPINION, which is easier to install/run and/or compatible with my system?

Thank you!!!

As you found out the grey disks are model specific....can only be used on specific models.

Snow Leopard comes as a CD.

There are two ways to install Lion:

Lion comes as an App Store download (you need at least 10.6.6 installed to download from the App Store OR

There is a Lion thumb drive that you can install using the new XMove, but again you need SL installed.

There is a version of iBoot in the works to install directly....but it is not yet available.

There are a couple of guides:
