I have been using the TP Link TL-WDN4800 but it has lately been dropping connection only on OSX after updating to 10.8.5.

I tested wifi on my other partition that has a 10.8.2 install and wifi does not drop at all.

Nobody has found a solution AND I recently purchased the new Airport Extreme 802.11.ac and wish to take advantage of the speed with the Edimax EW-7822UAC USB device (as suggested by a few other users on the forum).

My main question is: will my Hackintosh freak out if I remove the TP-Link or will it be fine?

Thank you.

If remove the PCI Wifi Card, make sure that you shut down down OS X, turn the power off to you system, and you will should be able to boot as normal. Just without the Wifi obviously. This shouldn't cause OS X to freak out at all.

there should be no issues if you remove your wifi card and use another one. Edimax EW-7822UAC
USB device is a good one but is dependent on USB 3.0 .. if your build has no issues with USB 3.0 go for it.

You can also use the Aus PCE-AC68 card its supported in 10.8.5.
