Hi,

I'm using Unibeast on an old 2010 Thinkpad x201.

This is an i5 Arrandale machine, the first with integrated Intel HD graphics, far as I can tell.
It only has a VGA port -- no digital graphics.
The screen is 1280x800.

With Inject Intel and verbose enabled in the Clover Configurator, it boots, and spews maybe 300 lines of verbose text output.

It then tries to bring up the first Apple install screen. I can see the screen mostly, but it looks like the refresh rate is off.Pixels of different colors are misaligned. I can read the menu, mostly, and see a dialog box in the middle of the screen but keystrokes don't work. I can see a badly formed spinning ball.

Someone suggested using a VGA to HDMI cable as one way to deal with the non-existent VGA support in OS X.

Is there a kext I need for this old graphics hardware?

Any other guesses on how to proceed?

Or is this just a fool's errand?

The lack of keyboard input indicates there is another lurking problem.

Thanks,

Thanks for the help, RehabMan.

So, using that link I now have a USB stick built which in turn built a external USB drive containing a Mac Recovery Partition and a Mac Sierra Partition.

Booting to Clover on the original USB stick allows me to boot the Mac Sierra Partition on the external drive. This process, however, boot loops about 3 screens of verbose output in. The boot loop just hangs the machine. (I think this is because Clover is not on the external USB and this is BIOS Machine trying to boot a UEFI disk, which can't happen without Clover's help.)

I've attached a screen showing the last of the verbose output before the boot loop.

A google search seemed to indicate that the last line before the loop:

"IOConsoleUsers: gIOSScreenLockState 3 ....."

is perhaps associated with USB 3.0 in Sierra??

Any hints on how to proceed would be most appreciated.

Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting"

And also fill out your profile as per FAQ.

Don't forget that Arrandale requires significant patching (link is in the guide) and reaching the installer requires deleting the Intel graphics kexts (which is why you need to use basebinaries clone).
