Thought i'd start a new thread, since i've been hijacking Sørens thread......

Anyway

Build has started.......

So far i ordered these thing of ebay.

Gigabyte GA X58 UD5
i7 930
Scythe Mugen 2 rev b

I am gonna buy PSU, case, HD and dvd drive locally.

How about Ram, whats the best option.

Still need advise on quiet graphics card, and 6bg Ram, later i will get 6 more.

My old macpro has an extra graphics card, prhaps i can use that.

As you got the Mugen-2, you'll be best with low-profile RAM like the G.Skill Eco 1600@CL7...
However, I think these are sold only on dual-channel kits...
So you'll probably want to get now the 3 x 2x2GB = 12GB

As for silent GPU, check out my GV-N98TSL-1GI Silent Cell...

I guess you can use your macpro's GPU...

This is the board i ordered.

GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5 (rev. 1.0) LGA1366/ Intel X58/ SATA3&USB3.0/ A&2GbE/ ATX Motherboard

The extra graphicscard in my macpro is a Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT
Seems ok to me, since i am not playing any games.

I've had success with ocz gold ddr3 1600 6gb kit for SL on that exact same board with a 920 processor

Coolermaster PSU are ok priced here. Arent they ok?

I'm really not crazy about them...

Love the Corsairs/Antecs (Seasonic OEMs)...
