Why don't you use a fax/printer?

You don't need a phone cable.
I use the Epson 610 and it works well.

I have a nice all-in-one, the problem I'm running into is that when I get faxes on this line they're automatically distributed to my whole team via live sync. I can make them do that in win7 not in in osx though.

If you share the fax in system preferences that won't help?
