In my utter stupidity, I inadvertently set my main HD (Mountain Lion OSX) to "Everyone: No access".
Now, my disk won't boot. I tried searching for a solution online and found 1 which says I need to press Command-S so I can type in some terminal commands:
mount -uw /
chown root /
chmod 1775 /
exit
How do I freaking do this on a customac using a PC keyboard?! ( i do have a bluetooth Mac keyboard but the bluetooth won't activate until I am at the login screen which won't work until i can get the No Access issue resolved first). I have tried the Windows key+tab, Win+Ctrl, Win+Alt and nothing works to get me to the terminal so I can type in the commands above). This would have been easier if I had a separate OSX machine where I can just connect the customac's HDD via USB and set it from there. But my old macbook pro already died on me.
