So, we are a Mac house, have 2 Macbook Pro's, a Mac Mini, a plethora of Airports and an UnRaid Box. Well, I just bought some new components for my UnRaid box and was thinking I might as well just put together a Hackintosh and I can use that as our second media center (our first is our Mac Mini). I did a couple of Hackintosh Builds back in the 10.4.x days, so It's been a while. Looks like there are some cool new tools.
So here is what I have so far...
Intel Core2Quad Q9550S
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R
4x1GB Ram
Lots of Hard Drives
nVidia GeForce 6xxx/7xxx 256MB (I don't remember which series)
Silverstone Fortress FT02 Case
PCIe to Mini-PCIe adapter for Apple Airport 802.11n card
Here are the couple of questions that I have. Keep in mind that I am trying to keep this low cost here on out...
1. Is the graphics card going to be able to handle rendering 1080p content (h.264/x.264/MKV/etc.)? I was hoping to not have to rely to heavily on this box, as it will be serving content to my other Mini as well.
2. Has anyone had any experience with the ZFS project still going on?
