HS Continuity for IOGear GBU521 on E6230?

Keep in mind most WWAN ports cannot be used for WLAN adapters. Many of them have BIOS whitelists or have only limited connections (active pins are those required only for USB).

I tested my existing DW1510 in the WWAN port and it works fine, and I'm also fairly confident that there is no BIOS whitelist in my laptop. And then, would an Apple BCM94331CD +miniPCIe adapter fix Continuity?

You are lucky. It is a nice feature (flexible WWAN port) that not all laptops have.
