4530s with 8GB of RAM and an i3 2350M. It has a 6 cell battery, and the brightness level is set to 75%. I'm using the 320GB HDD it came with and a upgraded 1080p screen.

I get about 3 and a half hours in OS X using photoshop all the time in class with a Bamboo Pen & Touch tablet with 25% screen brightness. At very light (only browser) usage with lowest brightness setting I might get 4 hours if I'm lucky.

-Max 2:30 hrs
-6 cell battery
-25% brightness
-4530s
-i3 2310m
-4GB
-standard screen
-640GB on old fashioned plates

Is still think that the issue that is making our batteries last this short is screen brightness, lowest level is still to high.

Also: OS X is using a harddisk constantly (guessing from the front diode) and thus it cannot go to sleep, any suggestions ?

I think it's more like a power management issue, but i was surprised to see our probook lasting 6 hours on windows!

I would be good to make brightness working anyway, better to use it at night.

also, Who has a radeon card onboard, I do.

I have it, but well native is native, easier to use ;)

and shades is not really decreasing backlight so probabli it is not helping much with battery power.
