Hi!
I'm new here in the forum. I currently own an HP DM4T.
http://computershopper.com/laptops/reviews/hp-pavilion-dm4t
I do not want Lion. I am good with Snow Leopard. Which instructions should I follow?
Thank you.
locomotion, I googled your laptop and it looks identical to the dm4. I am confident that the guide I have in here on
page 7 http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=170&t=34709&start=60 should work with your laptop with all the caveats of course.
Substitute the Lion for Snow Leopard. The issue that I am anticipating with Snow Leopard is the graphics.
The built-in HD3000 might not be fully supported in Snow Leopard.

Prepare your Laptop by choosing your method:
1) Remove the stock HD and put a blank hard drive (Disassemble HP Pavillion DM4).
or
2) Attach a USB external hard drive .
• Create a USB install following tonymacx86
• Run Multi-Beast as instructed above and choose only EasyBeast Install, MacBookPro 8,1
• Delete AppleHDA.kext and AppleACPIPlatform.kext in S/L/E
• Edit contents of AppleGraphicsControl.kext in S/L/E. Show package contents then Contents/Plugins, remove ApplePolicyControl.kext (chentianwen.net).
• Download Taptun's modified mach_kernel: 10.7 Taptun Lion Kernel and show all files (Show All Files) then replace (backup first) the original mach_kernel with taptun's modified mach_kernel.
• Edit your org.chameleon.Boot.plist and change the following: EthernetBuiltIn=Yes, Kernel=mach_kernel, Timeout=2, GraphicsEnabler=No and UseKernelCahe=No. I use Property List Editor
• Reboot using cpus=1 (only for the first boot)
If you have Extra/Extensions, check that you have only these kexts (delete any extra kexts and run the kext wizard maintenance.
AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext
ApplePS2Controller.kext
AtherosL1cEthernet.kext (file attached below)
FakeSMC.kext
NullCPUPowerManagment.kext
If you don't have Extra/Extensions copy the attached Extra folder below. MultiBeast creates these kexts in S/L/E, delete them then repair permissions and rebuilt mkext using kext wizard.
Post Install:
• Combo update 10.7.3 by downloading and installing 10.7.3 Combo Update
• Delete AppleHDA.kext in S/L/E
• Edit contents of AppleGraphicsControl.kext in S/L/E. Show package contents then Contents/Plugins, remove ApplePolicyControl.kext.
If you want sound, opensourcefool shared his find to get sound. I do get random KP’s with the sound in my Laptop with this fix.

I know that this thread has been slowing down, but it's the only place I see anyone making progress with the dm4-2070us. I wanted to offer some hope for IDT audio with the 64-bit kernel -- because it's working for me right now!
I'm running 10.7.3, installed clean using Unibeast+Retail 10.7.3 from the App Store, vanilla kernel, no DSDT.
[EDIT]I've received a few PM's asking what flags are necessary to boot from the Unibeast installer. I just use cpus=1, which seems to be necessary no matter what for now.[/EDIT]
I used the kext found at
http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2291 and followed the directions as far as which kexts needed to be removed from /S/L/E, but I put the new kexts in /Extra to keep things a little cleaner.
Further good news is that with 10.7.3+Unibeast, all USB ports work at full speed without any kernel panics, which was a big issue even with a carefully tweaked DSDT in 10.7.2.
Has anyone else been making headway with this model? It's such a gorgeous little notebook, it's a shame that it has provided us with so many headaches
Try these steps and post any questions and challenges that you might have.
