Hi,

I have my new hackintosh working now on a hp elitebook 840 G3. I used all the kext's and drivers found in the repository of Hologos https://github.com/Hologos/hackintosh-hp-elitebook-840-g3
It worked like a charm and I could upgrade my High Sierra installation to Catalina. When the laptop boots I can select the entry Preboot from Preboot. This works fine but is quite slow. If I am not mistaken another entry should appear with the text MacOS from Macintosh. I have FileVault turned on so that could be an issue but Preboot is also encrypted as far as I know and that is working fine.

When I read the guide of Dave Jansen : https://davejansen.com/turning-on-filevault-on-your-hackintosh/ I understand that Preboot is the only option when FileVault is enabled? Is that true and if so can someone explain how that works? Is it possible that the Preboot entry boots and when logged in it takes a while to decrypt the MacOS drive so it can start up?

Hopefully someone understands what is going on because I am a newbie. Thanks a lot for the help at least!

EDIT:
I found out in the following discussion https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8111671 that the Preboot volume is indeed an login screen to decrypt the Macintosh HD when FileVault is enabled.
