command-shift-3 will get you a screen shot of your desktop
command-shift-4 will get you a circle with cross-hairs. Put it over the open window you want a shot of and hit the space bar - this gets you a camera - either hit enter or left-click to take the shot.

sry for asking a noob question. but what is the command key? I'm using a keyboard from windows. Merc Stealth
