How to Change SSD "Disk Media Name"

Two SSDs of the same make / model were purchased. Each was configured to bootable. The problem is that when selecting the target disk from the BIOS: they both return the 'media name' = "PNY CS900 1TB SSD Media". It would be nice to reconfigure this label with unique label.

I suspect that I am not the first to have this problem. Is it possible change the "Disk Media Name" (as returned by DiskUtility)?

No, as Disk Utility and the Bios return the name in the drives Firmware.

If you could obtain an application that enabled you to extract, edit and reinstall the firmware for your PNY SSD's, then they could be given different names.

I am not aware of any app that would allow you to change the manufacturer's name for the drive.
