Hello.
I´m trying to setup a system with 6 GTX 580 GPUs and it doesn´t work.
View attachment 86906
Only 4 of 6 are recognized and the one in slot1 to which the display is connected
only works in generic mode with 1280x1024 and no acceleration.
Is there maximum number of GPUs in OS X?

Thanks

I believe that the maximum is 4... out of curiosity, is this just an experiment, or what are you using 6 gpus for???

This is not actually a limitation of OSX but the hardware itself. I suggest you investigate just how many GFX cards your mobo can handle.

Have your tried booting windows or linux?

Thanks for your replies.
Yes, i installed windows 7 first to check if the hardware works.
I wanted to be able to focus on troubleshooting the OSX software issues.
With Windows 7 the nvidia driver shows all 6 GTX 580.
That´s what made me think there might be a limit to the amount of gpus in OS X.

I want to use the system as an allround motion graphics / editing workstation.
The multiple gpus are for the octane render software and resolve.

Any other ideas about making OSX use all gpus please?
Can someone confirm that OS X is definetely not able to handle 6 gpu?

Help is highly appreciated.

Thanks again.
Yes, both drivers. The latest webdriver ending with f02 and the 10.9.2 default drivers.
