can I plug in a different video card and pray? thanks

How "Big" of you to drop by and post into the 10.6.support forum ...

It sounds like you forgot something in multibeast during the install - and I assume that this is a 10.6 to 10.7 install/upgrade you are doing!

What you can do is to enter that value at the boot up -

Using iBoot cd - boot from it - press the down arrow key to halt the auto boot process and you will see options on the screen - you now can enter the boot loader options just type them in and hit enter.

this add that value to the boot string /arguments to the os loader to use.
so I suggest you use these three -v -f and your graphics enabler option - dashs and space's are required in these arguments.

Also please update your signature file to include what hardware you are using for us to see what you hack build is - that way we dont have to ask silly questions.

And ... the following may appear excessive but you need to know that "knowledge is Power" Bazingga!

If you are unfamiliar w the internal workings of the Mackintosh world, I found the following websites and videos very be helpful.

But before you do this please look for some YOUtube vids under the name deanwrayUK

thanks for the reply, meant to post in 10.7, sorry , it's actually a fresh install of 10.7, with 10.7.4 update combo, then multibeast.
System is Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R, with an old PNY 9400GT video card,
4gb RAM, thanks for all the info, will delve!
