How do I get NVidia GeForce 8400 GS working on Sierra 10.12.1?

My configuration:

Processor: Intel Core i3-540 (3.06 GHz)
Motherboard: MSI H55M-E21 (Micro ATX - LGA1156 Socket)
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 1 GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0
RAM: Corsair VS2GB1333D3 2GB DDR3 1333MHz

I've installed Sierra on this successfully, but the resolution is stuck at 800x600 and Multibeast ends with "installation failed" everytime. Is it possible to use this graphics card with Sierra? or should I try installing older OS X versions?
