Hi.

I took a StarTech single-port eSATA card out of my MacPro 1,1 where it worked just fine and put it into my hackintosh. It identifies as a pci197b,2363 in System Information, but when I attach a drive it does not mount. This is the report:

pci197b,2363:

Type: RAID Controller
Driver Installed: No
MSI: No
Bus: PCI
Slot: Slot-4
Vendor ID: 0x197b
Device ID: 0x2363
Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x197b
Subsystem ID: 0x2363
Revision ID: 0x0003
Link Width: x1
Link Speed: 2.5 GT/s

I guess it's not working because there's no driver installed. I don't recall installing one in my MacPro however - there it just worked.

Googling gets me a page of drivers: http://drivers.awdit.com/hwid/pci/ven_197b/dev_2363/ but unsurprisingly none of them are for Mac.

Where do I start trouble-shooting this? I don't even know where to begin.

Thanks.

Have you enabled eSATA in MultiBeast 6?

Drivers/Disk/3rd party eSATA

I decided that card is old and slow and doesn't owe me anything. I bought a new one.

The StarTech PEXSAT34 4 Port PCI Express SATA III Controller Card with eSATA gives me three internal SATA and one external eSATA port. Between it and the 4 SATA ports on my motherboard I can now run 5 x HDs, 1 x SSD and an optical drive with a port left over. Fills the Bitfenix Prodigy right up!

It's Mac OS certified and just worked out of the box. I haven't tried the eSATA port yet, but I'm confident it will work too. The internal SATA ports work just fine.

I bought it from Amazon:

How's you're experience with this card so far? I'm really looking to add more SATA ports to my rig internally but I'm a little scared by the high number of negative reviews on this card...
