I wanted a system that could both do video editing and be a gaming machine. i therefore went with a AMD GPU.

I had to buy an external USB audio card as I was unable to get the onboard sound working in OSX

I also had to use maxmem=4096 to get the installation to work.

Why couldn't you get Realtek ALC892 working on this build and why did you use the Realtek Nic driver instead of the atheros in multibeast

Regarding the ALC892 my guess is that something changed from the H87 motherboards to the H97 one. We have discussed the issue here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/133512-cant-play-videos-no-sound-gigabyte-h97n-280x.html

I first installed the AppleIntelE1000e driver but it didn't work. I then installed Realtec Nic driver and everything worked. Perhaps it is just a coincidence and the maybe reason for the AppleIntel not working first could be that I didn't reboot it after the installation.

A very nice build Henrik, congratulations! I do have a question concerning your 280x card. Are you able to use two monitors on it without any problems and do you know if other brands of 280x cards work too?

Yes, I can use two monitors (one is a projector) without problems, both in windows and in OSX. I use the HDMI port and one Mini Displayport. Both mirroring and extending desktop work and you can set the resolutions independently. I do not know if the other brands work, but here is a thread were other manufacturers are discussed: http://www.tonymacx86.com/buying-ad...90x-our-hackintoshes-further-explanation.html

Thank you very much for your reply. I have posted in that thread some days ago and quoted a guy who managed to get the Sapphire 280x Toxic working back in January. The problem is that he doesn't respond. He is the only one I found who managed to get this card working.

Hi!

I'm planning to build a somewhat similar system.
It seems like I can't purchase the H87N-WiFi anymore, so I'm gonna have to go with a H97N-WiFi.
You said you only have problems with video and audio-things that shouldn't be a problem for me since I'm gonna build the system with a GTX 780 Superclocked card, and my headphones are connected to the computer via USB.
Otherwise, sleep, ethernet, etc works, right?

Cheers, Haber

The alc892, alc887 and the alc1150 audio codec have changed on these 9 series boards and can't use the audio drivers in multibeast at the moment intel has changed the configuration Ids for these on the new 9 series board and until multibeast is updated to get the onboard audio working there are currently two known solutions either use voodoohda which is not recommended by me but does work or use the ones in this thread

I'm on my H97N test system now. Short story, I can't make on-board graphics work - it's working now. I have an old 6450 graphics card in it using the standard MultiBeast & Chimera GE=o, but I had to boot and mod the /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist file with GranphicsMode=1920x1200x32 to make OS X work on my monitors.

See tonymacx86's post here for audio fixes for the 9 series motherboards: looks like we’re not 100% on the 9 series fix: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/134002-quick-fix-onboard-audio-9-series-motherboards.html

IMO, I don't think the H97N is ready for prime time hackintoshing, yet. It's BIOS version is F2 while the Z97N's BIOS version is F3. Support for the 9-series motherboards is improving. The WiFi/BT card has the same problem as the H/Z87N motherboards - BT will sometime work, and WIFI doesn't. Too bad, because the WIFI in the H/Z87N motherboards is 11ac. However, there are other alternatives, if you need the WiFi, as discussed in other threads. I will probably use the Edimax USB 3 wireless adapter so I can still use the PCIe slot for the graphics card.
Edimax Wireless AC1200 Dual Band USB 3.0 Adapter (EW-7822UAC)

I have this adapter and using it on my H67N-USB3 system with good results in Mavericks. It does require an Edimax driver, so you're at the mercy of Edimax to updated quickly when Apple release updates. However, IIRC, Edimax has drivers for Tiger (10.4.11) and newer.

So, if you do try to install Mavericks, use a graphics card, turn off the IGPX in the BIOS and use the Px disk definition in the BIOS as the UEFI disk definition will not work with Chimera. Or, to use the on-board graphics, see http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...ifi-using-hd4600-no-graphics-card-needed.html Guide.

Cheers mate!

As long as I can replace the mPCIE card with an AR9380 variant, and the sleep works, I'm happy. Please do keep us updated, though. If you'll start another thread on this, please post it here, I want to keep track of it.
