Newbie trying to install El Capitan.
Hardware - Samsung 850Evo m.2, MSI GTX960, MSI Z170 Gaming 5, Crucial DDR4, 2133 4x4Gb
Installer runs every second attempt - the first try gets the prohibited sign.
The installer will run and then crash, with the error
"panic(cpuN caller 8xfffff881abce48a): Kernel trap at..." as per attached picture.
Note that I have seen all cpus from 0 to 3

Check for an enabled Serial port in your BIOS settings and if found, try disabling it.

Thanks - I had missed that. I've now double checked all the BIOS settings, and injected nVidia drivers. The installer now starts....

More later.

Installer finished OK. MultiBeast helped set up most things. Had to edit plist to stop nVidia injection after driver installation. Audio still flakey - and that has been by far the most trouble, so over to the audio forum for the nth time.
All in all - lots of good stuff on the forums, and with Pilgrim's help along the way quite a solid result. Happy and thanks to all who contribute.
