Hello all,

i am looking into Hackintosh since 1/2 year and i already have a fully working Acer AOA 150.
However I am unable to get my AMD 64 x2 working (8400GS no QE/CI and sometimes kernel panic) so i decided to upgrade my PC:

I decided on a core i5 2500k, because than i can use a small case and I can use the HD3000.
But I am uncertan what motherboard to use, should I go with the new
Gigabyte H77-DS3H Socket1155 DDR3 ATX (no DSDT)
or with
GIGABYTE GA-PH67A-UD3-B3
or
???

Any suggestions?

If you want a small system build a ITX system.

i5 2500k = Sandy Bridge
H77 = Ivy Bridge
H67 = Sandy Bridge

But I recommend Ivy because it has integrated USB3 in chipset. Ivy Bridge support isnt so good right now but Apple will soon release 10.8 and then Ivy Bridge will probably be supported. If you can wait some time that would be the best alternative.

i5 2500k is a hot processor. If you want a small and cool system then get a 65W or lower processor. Their are processors 65W Sandy Bridge processors with Intel 3000 Graphics and 45W Ivy Bridge processor with Intel 4000 graphics, Core i7 3770T, but that one is expensive.

what are you uncertain on? Is price your factor? Any board that has full support is the one you should go with unless you have reasons you need to go otherwise.

Thanks but as far as i read HD4000 is not working with QE/CI thats a deal breaker.
Main question is 77 or 67

If i look a the specs the 77 can sandy as well why are you writing 77 for ivy?
And about the W would you rather go with
i5-2405S (HD3000)
or down to
i3-2125 (HD3000)
the
i7-2700K (HD3000) is above my budget....

HD4000 will work just fine come 10.7.5 which should be really soon. Worst case it will certainly work in Mountain Lion which will be by the end of this month. So I would choose what would be best in the coming weeks not what works right this second.

Thanks,

so basically wait for 10.8 or 10.7.5
take the

Gigabyte H77-DS3H Socket1155 DDR3 ATX

and 5i ivy??
i5-3570K or i5-3475S

or 5i Sandy??

Ivy FTW

So i decided now on:

Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H
and
Intel Core i5-3570K Prozessor
with 8gb RAM

But i will wait a view days until 10.7.5 or 10.8 is coming so to be shure both ivy and DH4000 are working....

any suggestions?
