So lately my computer has been taking a while to shut down with mac so a couple times I had to just hold the power button as I was in a rush to leave. Then after I started it up it came up with the gray screen saying you must restart your computer. So I did and it booted normally but now it keeps freezing at the log in screen no matter what I do...

I was about to update to 10.8.3 but haven't been able to log in for a few days. Here is my setup and how I installed 10.8.2 if it helps. Does anyone have any idea what this could be or how to figure out why it is freezing at the log in screen? its quite annoying as lately I've been motivated to make some music in logic which doesn't come often while im in school, but now all this creative juice and motivation is being wasted.

Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 (UEFI) on Mountain Lion 10.8.2

COMPONENTS

  • Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboard (UEFI BIOS)
  • Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 HD3000 (with Corsair H80)
  • MSI GTX670 (with custom bracket Antec Kuhler 620)
  • G.Skill Ripjaw (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
  • 128 GB Samsung 830
  • 1TB Hitachi HDD
  • Corsair TX750M
  • Sony Optiarc optical Drive
  • Fractal Design Define R3 Black w/ USB 3.0
  • Apple OS X Mountian Lion 10.8.2 @ App Store
  • SteelSeries Sensei Mouse
  • Logitech keyboard
  • Samsung 24" LED Monitor

This is the Procedure I followed (with pics of my settings):

  1. Update BIOS to UEFI (version U1H): Link
  2. Create MS-Dos bootable drive to flash BIOS -> http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/46707-ms-dos-bootable-flash-drive-create.html
  3. Set BIOS to the following: Link
  4. UniBeast
    • Follow this tutorial: Link
    • Stop after completing steps 1 and 2.
  5. Boot from flash drive
    • I normally boot in verbose mode just incase (-v)
    • More info: Link
  6. Install Mountain Lion
    • Follow this tutorial: Link
    • Follow: “STEP 3: Install Mac OS X Lion”
  7. Complete initial setup.
  8. Run MultiBeast and select the following options:
    - You must select the "NullCPUPowerManagement" kext in miscellaneous
    - You must select GraphicsEnabler=No
    - DO NOT install "FakeSMC Plugins" an offending kext will hinder you from booting
    - For this build chose iMac 12,2 under System Definitions

  9. The installation will fail, so do the following...
    - Finder -> Go -> /System/Library/Extensions -> Delete "IOUSBAttachedSCSI.kext"
    - Next you will need to rename this offending kext -> /System/Library/Extensions/IOBluetoothFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/CSRHIDTransitionDriver.kext

This may cause Bluetooth to not work properly but you can fix this later. Do the following in terminal to temporarily rename the kext so you can boot.

    Code:
    Type: cd /System/Library/Extensions
    Type: cd IOBluetoothFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns
    Type: sudo mv CSRHIDTransitionDriver.kext CSRHIDTransitionDriver.kext.bak
(give your password - the cursor will not move - there will be no feedback - just type the password and <Enter>)

    Type: cd /System/Library
    Type: sudo touch Extensions
  10. Install Multibeast again, this time it will work.
  11. Reboot and enjoy your hackintosh

i still dont know how to fix this....if someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. also, i wanted to update to 10.8.3. maybe i could fix this issue by updating? if so how do i do so? i see theres a new version of multibeast, but that would require a fresh install, no? i dont want to lose all my data on my drive, so is there a way i could update to 10.8.3 and have all the latest drivers and such, as well as hopefully fix this USB/mouse issue?

thanks for your time
