HELP!! MSI gtx 660 ti power edition

I got my new graphics card in the mail yesterday and after swapping it out for my radeon HD 5770 I got no graphics output. it seemed to be booting fine and i think it reached the desktop but no graphics output not even in the bios. after putting my 5770 back in it boots fine, I have tried rewiring everything twice now, am i missing something or is it a bad card?

mobo-GA-Z86MA-D2H-B3
i5-2400 cpu
gpu- see above
8 gigs ram
anything else?

I think the next step is to try it in my brothers z77 build.

update- tried the card in my brothers computer but got the same result no output from the card
