I could not find any older version of MacOS software on the App Store. I found support article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208969 which provides an App Store link to High Sierra. But when I click the "Get" button in the App Store it launches the System Preferences and tries to update my laptop (which has Mojave 10.14.5). I assume High Sierra is only an upgrade to Sierra. Is that correct?

Assuming High Sierra was an upgrade, I downloaded Sierra from another support article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208202. I was thinking I would install Sierra and then run an upgrade to High Sierra.

TLDR; Should I install Sierra with Unibeast/Multibeast and then upgrade to High Sierra, or is there a way to install High Sierra directly?

Thanks for any help or advice!

I just tried to make a USB Sierra installer but Unibeast won't find the Sierra installer I downloaded from https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208202
I put the .dmg in Applications and then tried pulling the InstallOS.pkg off the .dmg and putting it in Applications. Unibeast still couldn't find a Sierra Installer.

1. Double click on the .dmg file to mount it. It doesn't need to be in applications.

2. Double click the .pkg file.

3. Click through the prompts.

4. Click install and then you'll find your macOS Sierra installer in Application

5. Now you can run UniBeast or use the Createinstallmedia method to make your installer.

Awesome, thank you! Unibeast recognized the installer, but said it was incomplete, the installer was only 5.03gigs. I will re-download it and try again.

If Unibeast still doesn't work use the createinstallmedia method instead of Unibeast. It's very easy to do.
An 8gb flash drive works for Sierra in spite of what the guide says.

After that you just run the correct Clover installer from here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/resources/categories/clover-builds.12/

I appreciate this information!
I spent another few hours downloading the Sierra installer but got the same results with Unibeast.
I just gave your advice a shot but Terminal didn't like my USB thumb drive.
/Volumes/USB is not a valid volume mount point.
USB is the name of the USB drive, it is mounted and shows up in the Finder.
I reformatted it with Disk Utility and tried again with the same result. It's a 32gig Samsung USB stick.

I do plan to build a new Hackintosh this year (watching for Black Friday deals) but I'd like to have this one working in the mean time.

Are you doing this before erasing the USB drive ? It should say Samsung where it says lexar below.

Yes, I did that (selecting the parent and not the child) and formatted it MacOS Extended (journaled).

The new sierra with not work with creatinstallmedia
