hi, sorry for my english.
I want some advice. I have a hackintosh with

- intel i7 6700
- Gigabyte Z170xp
- Ram 16GB
- SSD 1T
with "catalina 10.15.7"

today, with multibest I changed the "Product Model" (from 14.2 to 18.3)
so I am offered the update to OS Ventura.
do you recommend it to me?
can I do it by simply clicking "update now"?
will everything work?
I attach a photo.

Thank you very much, and sorry for my English

Are you using Clover or OpenCore as your bootloader? If you are still using the old Clover, you should switch to OpenCore as Ventura will require it to be able to boot.

In this case you should take some time to read up and set up the OpenCore bootloader BEFORE you proceed with the upgrade. I would strongly recommend you make a bootable clone of your Catalina installation onto another disk before you proceed.

Thanks so much guys.
I'm not that expert, because I stopped in Catalina.

I have always used clover.
I have now installed the latest version of "clover" (revision 5156 - 2023-11-11).

- as a bootloader, can I continue with clover, or continue with OpenCore?

- is there a specific procedure to create a clone of my disk? what do you recommend me to do?

- if clover is installed on this disk, can I install (overwrite) OpenCore? (isn't there a conflict between the two bootloaders?)

I'm sorry, but I'm not up to date with the new procedures.

thanks so much for your help

try the transition over to opencore

new versions of clover needs elements of opencore mashed in to make it work

OK thank you.
I continue with opencore.

- can I safely "overwrite it?"

- my current disk is 500 GB, if I clone into a new 750 GB disk (which I would then like to use as the main one, in fact I do the "tests" on this disk) will the remaining 250 remain available or will they be "lost"?

I'm always sorry for my English

test with a usb stick to boot

and when it works, remove your EFI folder from your hard drive EFI partition and replace

ok thanks so much.

Therefore:
1 - I install the opencor (bootloader) on a USB stick,
2 - boot from USB with opencor
3 - start catalina
4 - I install Ventura

if everything is ok, I replace the EFI folder

Right?

pretty much yes :)

pretty much yes :)
Thank you very much. I'll try tomorrow.
I follow the opencore guide
I hope to succeed
I have already cloned Catalina with Carbon Copy Cloner

To install Ventura, do I update directly from Catalina (software update), or do I have to do a new installation?
