Has anyone managed to get HDMI audio from a Sapphire HD 5770 or 5870 or any other Graphics card for that matter?

Now on my 4th build with i7 950 on a Gigabyte x58a-ud3r 24Gb, HD 5870, everything perfect except I would like to get the hdmi audio working.

Seem to have tried everything and now im going round in circles, any help woudl be appreciated

Those are things you should read up on to try and get it to work. From my experience, I got my HD 5770 to output HDMI audio but my onboard audio was disabled. Seems in some cases you'll have to choose one or the other, but won't have both. I ended up reverting to onboard audio because it's what I mostly use. Good luck.

Interesting. So you cannot use hdmi audio and computer audio both. Then do you connect the computer audio to HDTV with audio cable? It is unfortunate that you cannot do that?

HDMI audio works on the both the Sapphire HD 5770 and HD 5780 if these conditions are met:

1. Successfully edited DSDT with HDMI audio edits (PEGP, GFX0 & HDAU)
2. AppleHDA.kext (v1.9.9) installed in S/L/E available in OS X 10.6.5, 10.6.6 or 10.6.7

If you use MultiBeast for on board audio (it installs AppleHDA.kext v1.7.9), HDMI audio will not work. There are other on board audio solutions that use AppleHDA.kext v1.9.9 which provides both on board and HDMI audio.

Detailed instructions for the DSDT HDMI audio edits are described here: http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?p=108339#p108339

With my Sapphire HD 5870, I have both HDMI and DisplayPort audio in addition to full on board audio.
