Hey good folk. So I broke down and purchased a Samsung Odyssey G8 QD-OLED. Fantastic monitor! However, I have a problem. While the supplied DP cable allows for 175Hz VVR with HDR, as soon as I switch to HDMI I can only achieve 3440x1440P @ 60Hz with HDR, or SDR 120Hz. What gives? Everything is fine in Windows, so is there a fix for macOS or is this just another one of Apple's stupid quirks?
Oh, and why do I want to used HDMI over DP? Seems there is a niggle that disconnects the display sometimes when the monitor goes to sleep rather than go into standby mode. This has been reported by several users in other forums, and switching to HDMI remedies this.
Also, both my G8 Odyssey monitor and Aorus 6800 XT Master have USB video options. Any reports of this working in macOS?
